It's exciting to say the least. Driving is now a non-trivial task, for starters... I'm used to being able to take my time and not having anybody around. I'm sure i'll manage.
I'll be moving there at the end of April.

So, posts might be pretty sparse until i get set up again. Still running off of a modded PS3. Somehow that's still working!

Also, i'm an in-dash LCD screen away from having a computer/PS3/original Xbox/something in my car for a music system. I got the 400W power inverter over the weekend. Any suggestions as to what system i use? Preferably something that can simultaneously browse the internet while playing music; i plan on using this thing for road maps, etc. too.failanxhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04848591612862812253noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-550458360569801419.post-74635613802014564212011-03-24T13:00:00.000-07:002011-03-24T13:00:57.304-07:00In The Flesh?"Is there something eluding you, sunshine?

So, i've finally set up my travel rig. It consists of a PS3 running Linux with a powered USB hub, using a mobile broadband card for network access. Ideally, this thing would be using 3g, but i haven't been able to connect to it anywhere yet; it just defaults back to the 1xRTT slow-as-hell network. Which i guess is tolerable, if that's what it comes down to.

So, i'm pretty much moving to Omaha at the end of April. I'm gonna miss the hell out of this town, but it's time for me to see some of the rest of the world. It's been long enough. And it's not too far away to move back in case i change my mind once i get there! This is partially what the travel rig is for. I'm only about 1/2 paid off on my car, and i may have the previous owner hold on to my computer (and a handful of other things) as collateral, and to ensure that i'll return to this town some day.

I'm starting to miss this place already. I've finished all levels and got all chaos and super emeralds with both Sonic and Knuckles, and am currently at about 50% done with Tails (who, strangely, can't transform like the other two with only a complete set of chaos emeralds, he needs the super ones too).

Also, i noticed that when Tails turns his back, his sprite has drawn-on tails, and the game doesn't quit animating the two flopping around behind him while he does so, making him appear to have a total of four.
Still not 100% sure how the transparency works, other than #000000 is always 100% transparent. It's weird because the tutorials i followed online didn't mention anything about what color-mode to use when working with the image, and the PS3 (as of yet) only supports a greyscale image, but when i open the original .dds files in Photoshop it always opens them in RGB color... And i'm too chickenshit to try a few things out and potentially brick my PS3.

Yes, that's Kefka from Final Fantasy 6. It seems appropriate. .dds files available upon request.
Fedora is, i think, the perfect combination of functionality, performance and ease of installation. The installer (Anaconda; supposedly the same installer Sabayon uses, except in Fedora it actually works...) even let me partition my three disks into a couple raid-arrays; one for the root filesystem and one for swap space. And it did it without flinching, bombing out halfway through, or spontaneously rebooting!

It's almost as well-polished as Ubuntu. Totem (Movie Player for Gnome) searches for uninstalled codecs and finds them if they're available... It's really well put-together; then again, Red Hat always used to be, so no surprise there.failanxhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04848591612862812253noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-550458360569801419.post-91043810983472314252011-02-23T11:30:00.000-08:002011-02-23T11:30:49.741-08:00Police Raid Graf_Chokolo's HouseGraf_chokolo, who has contributed countless things to the PS3 scene, had his private home raided by police this morning. They confiscated all of his "accounts" and anything related to PS3 hacking. Some of you may remember that graf_chokolo promised if he was pushed, that he would release all of his PS3 hypervisor knowledge to the world. He kept good on this promise releasing what is being dubbed as the Hypervisor Bible. "The uploaded files contains his database which is a series of tools for the PS3′s Hypervisor and Hypervisor processes. It will help other devs to reverse engineer the hypervisor of PS3 further."

" SNES9x PS3 4.4.5 (FW 1.92+/FW 3.15/FW 3.41/CFW 3.55) changes:

==================================================
Build 4.4.5 (14-02-2010)
==================================================

* New HD Version - every game runs at the SNES' high-resolution mode (512x448 interlaced mode). Try this with the right shader on (4xSoft) and this can make the games look beautiful. Both progressive (1080p/720p/480p/576p) and interlaced modes (480i/576i/1080i) work with this - try interlaced for best results.

* 4xSoft combined with this HD version also beautifies the pseudo hi-res transparent background layers in Kirby's Dreamland 3.

* Triple Buffering option added - enabled by default. Faster graphics/shader performance with triple buffering turned on - some potential input lag with triple buffering on - turn it off in case you experience problems of this nature.

* USB/Bluetooth mouse can be used now for Mouse/Super Scope games.

* Primal Rage works again."

Can't wait to test it, but i gotta get some sleep first!

EDIT: Got to mess with it before work, briefly. It looks awesome on my little 720 monitor; i can't wait to see how nice it looks on my friend's big-ass 1080. The CRT video filter is beautiful... it even morphs the screen so it looks bowed out like a CRT television! Now i can swear at Gradius III in glorious high-def! :oP

EDIT 2: The hd version looks kinda weird... if you leave the PS3 set on a progressive video mode, there'll be interlacing artifacts, and if you switch it to an interlaced video mode, there'll be less interlacing artifacts, but a lot of the video filters will look like butt... i should try the non-hd version, maybe.failanxhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04848591612862812253noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-550458360569801419.post-9807568803417152362011-02-14T09:14:00.000-08:002011-02-14T09:14:58.133-08:00Something you pass around - A Jointfailanxhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04848591612862812253noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-550458360569801419.post-42453674490639584682011-02-14T08:48:00.000-08:002011-02-14T08:48:11.138-08:00PS3 Channels Creator 2.0 - Now in English!Courtesy psgroove.com:
I meant to take my camera to work with me, so i could go out and take pics of everything melting under a sky that hadn't been blue in recent history, but i forgot. So, i got this pic from out the front window before the sun was too far gone.

I'll try to remember the camera tomorrow!
This is my custom Ignignokt character. In an ideal world, i would have been able to make him only one pixel thick, and indeed he was originally like that, but that made him have facial features on both sides, and it just wasn't right. I wanted to make Err also, but his pixels are smaller and it just wasn't gonna happen up to my standards.
